Son of No One and #ReadingQuest

Hello again Book Addicts,

Welcome to another post about the #ReadingQuest and my progress on the Mage path. Since I last blogged I have managed to complete two squares on the board and now on to the third.

The first square I completed since my last blog was A BOOK BASED ON MYTHOLOGY and for that challenge I read Son of No One.

Title: Son of No One

Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon

Pages: 420

Rating: 4 Stars

EXP and Health points: EXP Points 10, Health Points 42

This book is the 25th book in the Dark Hunter series and this book was the next book I had to read so I was really happy when this book could be read to complete this challenge.

I have loved this series so much and this book as much as I loved the continuation of the story I felt a little flat compared so most of the other books. The romantic story line between Josette and Cadegan (the two main characters) seemed very rushed. Also Josette was a firm believer that gods and the supernatural did not exist so when she realized it did, I felt like she would not adjust so quickly. I did enjoy the humor, romance and the mythology within this book even with the rushed story line and am excited to read the next book within the series.

The second square I finished was a side quest and the square I completed was THE MINI GAME and for that challenge I read The Assassin and the Pirate Lord a Throne of glass novella.

Title: The Assassin and the Pirate Lord

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Pages: 70

Rating: 4 stars

EXP and Health points: 10 EXP Points 7 Health Points

This is a novella about Celaena and Sam before she became the kings assassin in book one. This book was perfect for a back story on some of the adventures Celaena went on and gave me more insight on who she was before losing Sam. I am a big fan of the Throne of Glass series but find it hard sometimes reading them due to how long the story is and how serious the writing style is, so the novellas are perfect as they are not as long.

I am excited to read the rest of the novellas and book four and five in the series (as well as anymore that come out). This is an amazing world with such detail given by Sarah J Maas.

The next square I have started to tackle is A BOOK SET IN A DIFFERENT WORLD. The book I am reading for this challenge is Queen of Shadows, the forth book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas.

I hope everyone who is taking part of the quest is having as much fun as I am and enjoying the books they are reading.

Bye for now Book Addicts.

#ReadingQuest First Book Complete

Hello again Book Addicts,

As I said in my last blog I was taking part in Read at Midnights #ReadingQuest which started on the 13th of August. I decided that the first square in the Mage path I was going to complete was going to be A book with a one word title. The book I chose to read to complete that square was Freeks by Amanda hocking.

This is a book that I have had sitting on my TBR for the last couple of months and was happy to finally get around to reading it so much so that I started and completed Freeks on the first day of the quest. I have read all of Amanda Hockings work and have a habit of finishing them in the same day that I started them. The best way to describe this book would be a Young Adults version of American Horror Story: Freak Show. It was a fun, intense, short read and I enjoyed it a lot. This book has the potential to become a series if Amanda Hocking wanted to expand on the story line as I still had some questions about the characters when the book finished.

While the Quest is taking place (it finishes on the 10th of September) I will not be writing review blogs. My posts till then will show:

  • The books I have completed for the quest and what I plan to read next
  • What square the book covers
  • How many pages are in the book
  • Star ratings of the book
  • EXP points and Health points

Title: Freeks

Author: Amanda Hocking

Pages: 400

Rating: 4 stars

EXP and Health points: EXP points : 10 Health points :40

Once the Quest is over I will add up all the EXP points and Health points and share them in one final post. Since I have completed the first square I have decided to tackle the square A book based on Mythology. The book I plan to read for this square is  Son of No One by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

 Enjoy your Reading Book Addicts.

#TheReadingQuest and my TBR

When I saw Read at Midnight had created #TheReadingQuest I knew it was something I had to take part in. This is an amazing quest-based Reading challenge that will go from Sunday the 13th of August to Sunday the 10th of September. For anyone who wants to sign up or get more information about this amazing adventure click on Here. Be quick though as you have to be signed up before the 13th of August.

I will be blogging weekly about my progress in #TheReadingQuest and update you all on what I have read throughout the quest.

The character I have decided to start my quest on is the MAGE: As wielders of spells and witchcraft, these players will conjure and summon their way through the First Down path on the quest. Their tomes contain magic and whispers of alternate lands.

I will be starting on the bottom left corner of the map and working my way through all five boxes on the side and some of the boxes  in the middle of the map (side quests). If I complete those I will go on the the Knight quests (those books will be decided at a later date).

Both pieces of artwork were created by CW Read, Think, Ponder.

My TBR books for the Mage path:

  • A BOOK THAT CONTAINS MAGIC: A Rip of Realms by Bella Forrest

  • A BOOK SET IN A DIFFERENT WORLD: Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas
  • THE FIRST BOOK OF A SERIES: First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones

  • POTIONS: Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  • TIME WARP : Zombie Apocalypse! by Stephen Jones or The Bones Season Samantha Shannon

This is my first Quest/Read-a-thon and I couldn’t think of a better one to start with. Who else is taking part of #TheReadingQuest ?
